Autumn is coming! That really excites me! On top of that, it’s been all work, little play lately. I work too hard and forget to treat myself because I don’t pass shops since I work from home and I haven’t wanted anything in a really long time. This month, however, with the best month of the year approaching, I seem to have gone completely crazy.
I know it’s only just September (August as I’m writing this) but I’m not really a summer person – just ask my doctor about my vitamin D deficiency! I love the sun but summer in the city is not something I find enjoyable! To feel closer to my favourite season of the year, I’ve already hit the shops looking for some autumn wardrobe staples. Here’s what I picked up:
I thought this bag was beautiful. As I’ve gotten older, my colour palette preference has definitely changed. I’m trying to break up the black in my life with navy, yellow and blush pink. They’re still quite subtle and conservative but just enough for me! This cross body bag is perfect for just carrying the essentials. I have a feeling that mustard will be huge this autumn and winter. Fashion month is next month so we’ll see if I’m right!
Honestly, Adam and I live in an apartment with lots of glass windows so our apartment is warm . So are coffee shops where I spend lots of time in autumn. Being in and out of different temperatures is tricky when you’re bundled up! I wanted a tee shirt that could be tucked into my jeans with a belt and keep me cool but work well with a chunky knit cardigan and my autumn boots! It makes a really pretty casual outfit.
I wasn’t meant to pick up anything black but I think this is a really transitional piece for a wardrobe! I imagine it working in summer on it’s own and in autumn with a cardigan or long sleeved top underneath. It’s just really delicate and I only have one other top like it, which I think is good going!
Again, this is just a cute one to have with high waisted jeans, skinny or mom, with a belt around the waist. It’s another super casual one but navy, white and yellow is a magic combination and you can never go wrong with stripes!
I love scarves. Whether you bundle them around your body or neck like a blanket or leave them hanging to tie an outfit together, they are a must-have in autumn and winter. Every autumn, for the last few years, I have bought a new scarf so this is the first of the season! I thought it would be cute in its own right but I can use it on top of other outfits that need a splash of colour – and it matches the new bag! I nearly also bought mustard shoes but I decided enough was enough!
Autumn is all about rose gold. This was one of the bigger spoils of the month! Read: outrageous. Last Christmas, I bought gold bracelets for every female in my family, spanning three generations of women. They were dainty, cute and personally engraved! What they weren’t, however, was real gold! Whilst everyone else’s bracelet looks fine, mine is scratched and chipped from cleaning and continuous keyboard use. I wanted something just as beautiful but that would last. I fell in love with this bracelet and I’ve worn it every day since it arrived!
I’m not a big fan of jewellery so when I find a designer I love, I have to look at the rest of their collection. Whilst I could have made this ring match the bracelet, I wanted the crystals to be true to what I needed from them and moonstone matched. It’s a lovely stone, milky and bright, and the two pieces of jewellery look great together. I can’t wait to tap into more of Monica Vinader’s products!
This month, I finally caved in and got myself an iPad pro. I have wanted one for a year but the price is ridiculous. That being said, the more I thought about the potential of this product, the more I realised I had to have it. From illustrations to better visuals on book reviews to designing and selling prints in my online shop which I’ll reopen for Christmas, it’s the key to better productivity! I can’t wait to learn how best to use it!
Here’s to bundling up in scarves, enjoying crisp cold weather and autumn/winter coffees!
