I was kindly invited back by Backyard Cinema to see their new immersive cinema theme- the Winter Night Garden. Considering how impressed I was with the Lost World jungle, I had incredibly high expectations…and I was not disappointed!
Find the old bookcase inside Elephant and Castle’s Mercato Metropolitano and you’ve found the right place. Then it’s through the big wardrobe, push aside the winter coats with their fur collars and step into the Winter Night Garden. You will find yourself in a beautiful archway of greenery and soft twinkling lights, and, using the light of the lanterns, you will twist and turn through the garden until you are in the clearing.
Winter Night Garden
Welcomed by the wonderful Backyard Cinema team, we were shown to our squishy bean bag seats with warm blankets and offered festive drinks. The first mulled wine of the season was warm, fruity and delicious– and of course, thoroughly enjoyed in the most festive setting it could possibly be enjoyed in!
The walls of the cinema were laced with fairy lights and foliage, the sides of the screen lit up with pretty lanterns and hanging lightbulbs. It was wonderfully cosy and inviting! (All very hygge, so to speak!)
We thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas songs and videos that were played prior to the movie as it really got everybody in the cinema room in the festive spirit! After some sweet and amusing short films, we threw our weight into the beanbags, sipped our hot mulled wine, snuggled under blankets and settled in to laugh, giggle and weep at one of the best Christmas films of all time: Love Actually. To top it all off, there was even a moment of snow!
As with last time, I left Backyard Cinema, and their wonderful Winter Night Garden, feeling fuzzy, warm and happy. Thanks for bringing in Christmas, BC! Congratulations on another fantastic immersive cinema experience. I can’t wait to see what you have in store next!
If you’re going to enjoy a Christmas film classic such as Home Alone, Love Actually, Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, The Holiday, Bad Santa, Santa Claus or Miracle on 34th Street and many many more, there is only one place that could ensure it’s perfect: book The Backyard Cinema before they’re all sold out here!
