We’ve all had those bad hair days where, no matter what we do, we just can’t bring our limp locks to life. Could it be product build up? Probably. Over time, shampoo, conditioner, mousse, hairspray and just daily oils build up in our hair which can make roots feel dirty and oily no matter how many times or how often we wash it.
I’ve suffered from this problem on many occasions and now, with all my research and testing of products, I know exactly how to solve it!
Often, you can bust the oil with a cleansing or clarifying shampoo. Here are a list of my favourites! Remember to AVOID shampoos that claim to leave your hair ‘silky’ ‘shiny’ or ‘smooth’ at ALL costs. These products contain all sorts of things to make your hair oily. That’s the last thing you need.
- Starting at the drugstore end of the scale, I find Vosene to be my hair’s best friend! I find its one of the only supermarket shampoos that ACTUALLY cleans my hair of everything. Its meant for dandruff removal so some are medicated but basically the mixture is more citrusy than silky and strips your hair off all product. It’s a steal for under £3!
- With the price slightly increasing at around £5 per (HUGE) bottle, I love the Tresemme ‘Deep Cleansing’ shampoo. It smells amazing and it lathers quickly and easily which ensures a deep clean. It will leave your hair squeaky clean again in no time!
- Aubrey Organics Green Tea Shampoo is also made especially for oily hair and avoids anything that may increase shine to your hair. Its another shampoo that lathers really well so every little bit of your scalp and hair gets a good wash. It’s not even that expensive at around £11 a bottle.
Go and try them for yourself and tell me how you get on!
